McNab Builders – Trade and University Pathways ProgramApplications due 2 August 2024

Applications are now open for McNab’s 2024 Pathways Program for Year 11 and Year 12 students. 

This is a great opportunity for students to get their foot in the door, which can lead to real employment outcomes, and the chance to work with one of Queensland’s leading builders. Opportunities are available for students considering studying Engineering, Construction Management, Property Management or Architecture, as well as students wanting to pursue a trade in Carpentry, Waterproofing, Plastering or Painting. All year levels are invited to attend the ADF and Engineering Lunchbox Sessions this term during Break 1 in Room 406 (next to the Careers Information Centre). See details below.

• Pathways to ADF - Tuesday 6 August

AG Careers Start – Applications open 22 July – 9 September

If you’re 17-25, this unique gap-year program provides you with a paid job, training and development, not to mention the opportunity to build your networks within the agriculture industry. Applicants can indicate which farm type they’d prefer from a wide variety, and also where in Australia they would ideally like to go. A matching process is undertaken to ensure participants are assigned to the type of farms that match their interests and skills. To learn more, visit the AG Careers Start website HERE. To submit an application for the 2025 TAFE at School Programs, students will need to:

UQ Young ChangeMakers Program

Year 11 students are invited to apply for this 4-day on-campus experience. Interactive workshops and keynote lectures aim to ignite passions for leadership, academic enrichment, and community development.

UQ Ramsay Undergraduate Scholarships 

Applications for the Ramsay Undergraduate scholarship schemes will open on 17 June 2024 and close on 4 August 2024. Up to 30 scholarships of $32,000/year for the duration of the program (up to 5.5 years). In 2025, you must be enrolled in either: 

• Bachelor of Advanced Humanities (Honours) (Western Civilisation) or 
• Bachelor of Humanities (Western Civilisation)/Bachelor of Laws (Honours)

Defence Work Experience Programs (DWEP)

The Defence Work Experience Program (DWEP) is a national Youth Program that provides young Australians with an interest in a Defence career, the opportunity to gain exposure to a range of job roles available within Defence and the Australian Public Service. Defence work experience activities are designed to be hands on and interactive so that young people can make informed career decisions.

The following programs are now taking applications online:

Places are limited and students are strongly encouraged to submit complete and considered applications as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. We work alongside ADF Units to bring students a valuable experience with serving personnel and therefore unforeseen changes or operational commitments may result in a placement being changed, postponed and/or cancelled at short notice.

Please monitor the DWEP website for updates on the program and to apply. Any questions regarding the work experience programs within South QLD can be forwarded to the South QLD Work Experience Program email address sqld.workexperience@defence.gov.au.

Bond University Scholarship Applications Open

Scholarship applications for high-achieving Year 12 student are now open at Bond University. See link HERE.Bond provides a range of awards including full-fee scholarships awarding from $102,240 - $204,480 in value, and part-fee scholarships awarding from $25,560 - $102,240 in value. As a not-for-profit institution, it's our privilege to be able to support the journeys of the best and brightest Bondies each semester. Whether your students exemplify stand out skills or have excelled in their academic, leadership, community or sporting efforts, our scholarships provide an opportunity to further support their studies at Bond and be recognised for their achievements.  Some of the scholarships on offer this year include:

Elite Scholarships

• Vice Chancellor’s Elite Scholarship - 100% tuition remission for an approved single or combined degree

Recipients of these scholarships are also invited to participate in the Vice Chancellor’s Mentoring Program once commenced at Bond. The Mentoring Program connects each scholar with an influential corporate mentor, and is intended to cultivate industry links, networks and business acumen.

Other Scholarships

• Excellence Scholarship – 50% tuition remission
• Leadership Scholarship – 25% tuition remission
• Bond University Indigenous Scholarship – up to 100% tuition remission
• Sporting Scholarships – up to 100% tuition remission (closes 1 August, 2024)
• Transformer Scholarship – 50% tuition remission

Scholarship application closing dates

There are two scholarship application closing dates:

Thurs, 1 August, 2024 for the Vice Chancellor‘s Elite Scholarship, Vynka Hohnen Scholarship and all sports scholarships.Thurs, 29 August, 2024 for all other scholarships.

Important - If students are applying for more than one scholarship with different application closing dates, it is important they submit their scholarship application form by the earliest scholarship closing date.
