Performing Arts

It has been a wonderfully creative term in Performing Arts, with every year level diving into exciting and imaginative projects!

Our Prep students have been having a fantastic time bringing We're Going on a Bear Hunt to life. Through movement, voice, and expression, the children have been exploring how to use their whole bodies to tell a story, stomping through grass, splashing through rivers, and tiptoeing through caves — all without leaving the classroom!

The Year 1s and 2s have been discovering the magic of blacklight theatre, and it has been truly spectacular to watch. Students have been learning how to use glowing props and puppets against a dark backdrop to create stunning visual performances. The effect is nothing short of enchanting, and the children have absolutely loved experimenting with light, colour, and movement in this unique theatrical style.

Over in Years 3 and 4, students have been putting a twist on the tales we all know and love through Fractured Fairytales. By flipping perspectives, changing endings, and reimagining familiar characters, they have been developing their playwriting and performance skills while exploring what makes a great story — and what happens when you dare to shake things up!

Our Year 5 and 6 students have been embarking on an epic adventure of their own through the Hero's Journey. Exploring this timeless storytelling framework, students have been crafting and performing their own hero narratives, developing strong characters, dramatic tension, and powerful moments of transformation. The depth of creativity and performance skill on display has been truly impressive.

It is such a joy to see students across all year levels engaging so enthusiastically with the performing arts. Watch this space for more exciting developments to come!
