LEAP

Learning Enhancement Achievment Program at GRPS
As a school we are very excited and proud of LEAP. It is a space where we engage with various students at their point of need, whilst they work with like-minded or similar ability peers to deepen their learning and help them all flourish.
As we begin to 2026 we would love to introduce the team and what they have been working on so far this term:
Kate Watson - Learning Enhancement
Our Term 1 Learning Enhancement Program with Mrs Watson, is designed to provide targeted enrichment and support to high-potential learners who demonstrate advanced ability, creativity, and strong engagement in Writing and Mathematics. The program allows students to collaborate with like-minded peers in a supportive, stimulating environment where students are encouraged to think deeply, take intellectual risks, and extend beyond the core curriculum. The program aims to develop advanced reasoning, creativity and critical thinking whilst cultivating curiosity, persistence, intellectual resilience, and reflective practice.
Below are some pieces of writing that some of the students created:
Megan Clark - EAL
Hello. Hola. Salam. Mingalaba. Ni hao. Bula.
What a fantastic start to the year for our EAL students! It has been wonderful reconnecting with everyone and seeing new friendships form in our EAL learning space. We have enjoyed sharing information about our interests, our families, and our unique cultures. Now we are delving into learning all about the English language through reading, writing, and speaking and listening activities.
Peta Dal Pra - Learning Enhancement
As part of LEAP I work with students from Years 1 to 4 in Literacy. I work with small groups, and the skills we build include reading fluency, word building, sentence dictation, phonics, and spelling. The students enjoy developing these skills through magnetic word work boards to build words, reading plays to improve reading fluency, handwriting on different surfaces, written phonogram reviews and literacy games. I look forward to the working with students and meeting them at their point of need so that they can flourish.
Peta Murray - Learning Enhancement
I am delighted to be joining the Learning Enhancement Program in 2026. I look forward to bringing my knowledge and passion to this role, supporting students to grow in confidence, build their skills and reach their full potential in their learning journey.
I have a diverse background in literacy and special education, with experience across both primary and secondary settings. I am passionate about recognising and nurturing each child’s individual strengths, and working collaboratively to ensure every student feels supported and capable of success.
I will also continue teaching Performing Arts two days a week. I feel incredibly fortunate to work across both areas of the school, as the creativity and expression fostered through Performing Arts beautifully complements the personalised, strengths-based support provided in Learning Enhancement. Being part of both spaces allows me to support students holistically — academically, creatively and personally.
