🏃‍♀️ PE News – A Fantastic Start to the Year!

We’ve had a wonderful and energetic start to the year in PE! The students have been enjoying a variety of teamwork games and activities, building skills while having lots of fun.

Developing fundamental motor skills is incredibly important, as these skills help students feel confident and successful when playing more formal sports.

  • Prep to Year 3 students are focusing on throwing (underarm and overarm) and catching.
  • Years 4–6 students are learning the skills required to play Volleybounce, a modified version of volleyball that develops teamwork, movement and ball control.

Each PE lesson begins with running to help prepare students for Cross Country.

  • Years 3–6 Cross Country will be held in Week 9 (date to be confirmed).
  • Prep–Year 2 Cross Country will take place later in the year, likely at the end of Term 3 or the beginning of Term 4.

🌅 Running Club

Running Club continues every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 8:30am, meeting in front of the Big Shed.

It’s open to everyone and is a fantastic way to start the day! Parents (and dogs) are very welcome to join in — whether you run with your child, alongside other families, or simply come along to support. It’s a great way to build fitness and connect with our school community.

🏉 Hawthorn Players Visit

We were lucky to welcome five players from the Hawthorn Football Club to our school. The players took part in a Q&A session, signed autographs and enjoyed a kick-to-kick with the students. It was an unforgettable experience, and the students absolutely loved the opportunity to meet and play alongside elite athletes!
