A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

First Whole School Assembly for 2026

Lyndale Secondary College recently came together for our first whole school assembly of the year, a wonderful opportunity to reconnect as a community and set the tone for the year ahead.

We were especially pleased to formally welcome our new Year 7 students and indeed all new students to the Lyndale community. Commencing secondary school, let alone a new school, is a significant milestone, and it was fantastic to see our newest cohort already embracing school life with enthusiasm and confidence. In my address, I welcomed students and staff back and shared a clear and positive vision for the year ahead.

A key feature of the assembly was the 2026 Student Leadership Investiture. An investiture is not simply about presenting blazers or badges; it is about recognising character, commitment and courage — the courage to lead, to speak up for others, and to model our college values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.

At Lyndale, our values are not just words displayed on walls — they are lived daily in our classrooms, corridors, sporting fields and across our community:

  • Respect is how we listen to one another and value diversity.
  • Responsibility is how we take ownership of our learning and our actions.
  • Resilience is how we respond to challenges and continue moving forward.

A recurring theme shared with students was the importance of recognising and embracing opportunity. While opportunities often present as major events such as performances, sporting carnivals, excursions and camps, they are also found in the everyday moments — attending class on time, asking questions, striving to improve and making consistent effort. Every day at Lyndale presents opportunities for academic, social and personal growth.

Another highlight of the assembly was the presentation of leadership badges to our 2026 student leaders, acknowledging their commitment, integrity and willingness to serve the school community.

We were also proud to welcome back our 2025 High Achievers, returning to Lyndale for the first time since completing their secondary schooling. Their achievements were celebrated and their presence provided inspiration for our current students.

It was a strong and unified start to what promises to be another excellent year at Lyndale Secondary College.

I look forward to seeing the impact our student leaders — and indeed all students — will make in 2026.
