Spotlight on the Classrooms

YEAR 3-6 CPR AWARENESS
On Tuesday 10th February, students in Years 3–6 took part in a CPR awareness program delivered by Mr Cameron McFarlane from the Royal Life Saving Society - Australia. The organisation delivers this initiative to schools across NSW to equip young people with essential, practical emergency response skills and to build their confidence in responding to real-life situations.
Throughout the session, students participated in engaging discussions and hands-on scenarios, developing their understanding of how to recognise an emergency and respond appropriately. Students learned about the DRABCD procedure and why each step is critical when assisting someone who is unconscious or not breathing. Students also practised their CPR techniques using adult, child and infant resuscitation mannequins, focusing on their hand placement, compression depth and rhythm.
The program provided valuable, age-appropriate learning experiences and empowered students with the knowledge and skills to act quickly and responsibly in an emergency.
