Ash Wednesday & Opening School Mass

Fr Mario led our community in prayer during our Ash Wednesday and Opening School Mass, marking the start of the forty days of Lent.

Project Compassion

Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion invites us to 'Unite Against Poverty' this Lent. As Caritas Australia’s largest annual fundraising campaign, Project Compassion mobilises Australians to raise much-needed funds to help alleviate poverty, promote justice, and uphold dignity in the most vulnerable and marginalised communities in the world.

Held during Lent, Catholic schools, parishes, and the wider Australian public participate in a diverse range of fundraising and awareness-raising activities to support Caritas Australia’s programs both overseas and here at home with our First Australian partners. Sacred Heart students have already been brainstorming creative ways that we can contribute to Project Compassion in 2026. More information will be shared with the community once details have been finalised.

  Sat 1st March (6pm), Sun 2nd March (8:30am), at St Joseph’s Church Gunnedah OR 

  Saturday 28th February, 4pm at Sacred Heart Church, Boggabri 

• Rite 2 Reconciliation for Confirmation Candidates: 

  Thursday, 26th March, 6pm, at St Joseph’s Church, Gunnedah

• Retreat Day for Confirmation Candidates: 

  Friday 27th March, St Xavier’s Primary School (Week 9, Term 1).
