Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we began our Lenten journey on Ash Wednesday, our school community gathered to reflect on the call to 'Turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel.' During our Opening School and Ash Wednesday Mass it was a great privilege to formally induct our student leaders for 2026, marking the start of a new season of service and growth for our school.

Lent is a time of prayer, fasting and giving to others. When we pray, we come closer to God so that we are better able to realise our promise to live justly as Jesus teaches us. Fasting helps us remember the needs of the poor, who often have no choice but to go without necessities such as food, water and shelter. Giving to the poor, or almsgiving, is a sign of our commitment to justice. It reminds us of our blessings and allows us to give thanks for all that God has given us.

During our School Leaders Induction Ceremony, Fr. Mario spoke to the students, reminding them that the leadership position they have been elected to is far more than a badge or a title. It is a commitment to serve their peers and to always follow the example of Jesus. We are proud of Ellie and Lachlan for accepting these roles, and I am certain they will lead Sacred Heart with great pride and integrity throughout 2026.

Welcome Miss Tayla Ferguson

This week, we were delighted to welcome Miss Ferguson to Sacred Heart School. Miss Ferguson will be working with Years 3–6 as an Education Assistant. The students have already extended a warm welcome, enjoying the opportunity to get to know her as she settles into our school community.

Classrooms have been busy and productive to start the year, with students engaging in their learning and settling into the new school year routines. We have enjoyed some special events such as the Swimming Carnival and Pancake Tuesday, with many more events on the calendar for the term ahead.

Warm regards,

Leanne Herden
