YEAR 5

FROM THE TEAM

What a wonderful week we've had this week. All staff are so proud of the way the students are continuing to follow the Ramlegh Park expectations inside their learning spaces. The specialists and Principal team have also been providing positive feedback about this.

We have some exciting things coming up such as the cross country on March 5. Students have been training over the last few weeks. For your child to participate, they must have 'on foot' permission. This can be done on Compass if you have not already done so.

LEARNING INTENTIONS FOR NEXT WEEK

READING

Fluency pairs will continue as usual. Students are given time to read a text related to persuasive writing. They will read the same text daily, working on accuracy, pace and expression.

WRITING

This week students will be planning for and writing their own independent piece of persuasive writing. They have been given many tools to share their point of view and include audience engagement and include an introduction, two arguments, a counter argument and conclusion.

MATHS

Quick maths facts (fluency) this week include skip counting from zero and non zero.

Students will also be taught explicitly how to identify multiples of numbers.

Inquiry

Looking into Australian history is our major focus. In particular students will be given opportunities to research answers to their questions they have developed.

WELLBEING

Students are participating in daily circle time with focus questions related to a growth mindset and resilience. Our Respectful Relationships topic is related to emotional literacy and being able to recognise positive, negative and mixed emotions.
