YEAR 2

FROM THE TEAM

We have worked hard to stay hydrated in the hot weather this week. We were grateful to have such lovely weather for our school photos! We cannot wait to see our class picture and have it up in the grade. This week we also had our first official Tribe meeting! It was exciting to meet up with our Mobs and continue the relationships that have started over the past few years. 

LEARNING INTENTIONS FOR NEXT WEEK

LITERACY

In Reading, we will continue to learn to identify key vocabulary in texts we read, discover the main idea of stories, and summarise the events in a text. 

In Writing, we are learning to innovate our own narrative texts based on Trixie Trickster and use our plan to independently write our own story using the tools learnt. 

MATHS

We are continuing to learn to recognise and read o’clock and half past times on analogue clocks, and identify the days of the week, months of the year and understand a calendar. 

INQUIRY

We are learning to understand the connections within our families. 

WELLBEING

We are learning to recognise ways we show kindness and describe how we feel when we act kind or receive kindness. 

SOMETHING TO WORK ON...

SHOELACES

Many of our children have laces on their shoes this year. Please work with your children to help them be independent when tying their own laces! 

HOME READING

Home readers should now be coming home nightly. We encourage all students to bring their reader bags and diaries each day to school. Please encourage your child to do the book entries on their own. Where it says ‘homework’, we kindly ask that they write their nights of reading so we can celebrate their success! 

REMINDERS

TISSUES 

We would greatly appreciate it if students could please donate a box of tissues to their class.  

LABELLING

A reminder to please ensure that hats, jumpers, jackets, drink bottles and lunch boxes are all clearly named. Items that are named are far more likely to be returned to you. 

INQUIRY HOMEWORK

If your child has brought home a family questionnaire to help with our Inquiry Unit, can you please ensure it is completed and returned to school as soon as possible?
