FROM THE TEAM

This week in Prep, students were introduced to Peter Penguin and Tim Turtle during Little Learners Love Literacy sessions. They continued to use their letters and sounds to read and write short words like sap, am, and pat. During Mathematics sessions, students enjoyed participating in activities to have been comparing activities that take a shorter or longer amount of time. 

We thoroughly enjoyed having parents in our spaces during the Family Fun Morning! Thank you to those who were able to join us and create your family tree with your child.

MATHS

• I can name and represent numbers 1-6. 
• I can make numbers 1-6 using different materials.

WELLBEING

• I can name and describe emotions in the Yellow Zone.
• I can identify how my body feels in the Yellow Zone.

READING

• I can find the front cover, title, and author in a text.
• I can retell a story in my own words.

WRITING

• I can orally retell a fictional story using new characters and setting. 
• I can write initial sounds and CVC words.

REMINDERS

Reader Bags & Home Reading Journals

A reminder to make sure your child is bringing their reader bag to school each day. Inside should be a small reader book, take home journal, and M100 Word pouch. Students will be able to take a new reader book each day if the previous one has been returned. It has been exciting to see students already having books written in their journals, and we look forward to celebrating their nightly reading in the classroom!

Prep Wednesdays

The last Wednesday Preps have off is Wednesday 4th of March. Prep students will be at school the full week beginning the day after Labour Day Public Holiday, Tuesday 10th March.

Digital Technology Forms

Please ensure that each section is filled out with your child, and that the form is brought back to school as soon as possible. If you need a replacement form, please contact your child’s teacher.

Supporting Independence in Prep

A big thank you to parents for encouraging students to walk into the classroom independently each morning. It has been wonderful to see the smiles on their faces as they walk into the classroom independently and hold their own schoolbag! We thank you for your ongoing support with this.
