From the Deputy Principal

Experiential learning is a key strength of ours at GSG

We are committed to extending our teaching and learning beyond the classroom walls and offering a broad range of opportunities. Of course, we are blessed to learn in such a remarkable environment. Excursions, practical subjects such as Marine Science and Outdoor Education, camps, service learning, and co‑curricular activities all form part of the rich suite of offerings at GSG. We also engage students in work placements and TAFE courses as part of our curriculum. This approach to learning is a Pre-Kindy to Year Twelve philosophy and it is wonderful to see our Primary and ECC students exploring the Wild Space and market garden throughout the day as well.

Excitement was plentiful in Year Two this week! A letter from the Albany branch of the Ministry of Magic informed the children that mysterious creatures had been spotted in the area. Soon after, strange footprints appeared in the classroom and dragon eggs were discovered! Year Two students have been busy writing about these magical occurrences, using their imaginations to solve the mystery of what might happen next. Real‑world learning not only builds skills and knowledge but also fosters a strong sense of culture, participation and community.

Next week, our Year Seven and Year Nine students are off to camp in Dwellingup and Margaret River, respectively. We look forward to challenging students, supporting them to build relationships, helping them experience the wonder and awe of nature and of course, having a huge amount of fun along the way!

2026 Student Residential Address and Other Information Collection

The Australian Government Department of Education would like to notify you that they have requested all schools to provide residential addresses and other information. This data informs Australian Government school education policy and helps ensure funding for non-government schools is based on need.

Under the Australian Education Regulations 2023, the school is required to provide the department with the following information about each student at the school:

  • names and residential addresses of the student’s parent(s) and/or guardian(s)
  •  student residential address (excluding student names)
  • whether the student is a primary or secondary student (education level)
  • whether the student is boarding or a day student (boarding status).

The full Collection Notice for parents/guardians is provided here.

We also encourage families to spread the word about our upcoming Tour Morning on Thursday 26 February, from 9.00am to 11.00am. If you know someone who may be interested in learning more about GSG, please share the registration link: Term One Tour Morning registration | Great Southern Grammar
