Year 7 to 9

Middle School Captain Speeches

On Thursday 31st of October, the 2025 Middle School Captain speeches took place and it was absolutely amazing. 9 candidates gave inspirational speeches that highlighted not only their unique abilities but the level of leadership talent that exists within this cohort. One brave student even sung her speech to the tune of ‘Let It Go’ from the movie "Frozen". All candidates completed their speeches within the allocated time period and all spoke with confidence and passion. It is now over to the students to vote on their preferred candidate and the final stage which will be an interview with Mr Bourke and Ms Catalano. At the end of the day everyone who presented at this assembly should be extremely proud of themselves.

Dodgeball Tournament

On 21 October the Year 7 Class Captains ran a Dodgeball Tournament.  The idea for the event came from the Year 7 Class Captains who planned the event and then delivered on the day, running a fun and friendly tournament.  The event was well organised and executed.

The class captains organised a Dodgeball Tournament for all Year 7 students. On the day we held several rounds of matches and 90 people attended. There were 4 teams each with over 20 people. The winning teams received a prize of Zooper Doopers.

After the event, the class captains reflected on what we could have improved. I believe having more teachers and PE staff would be helpful in making they day run smoother. I believe the day was a success. I think this would be a great event to plan annually.

On 21 of October, a Year 7 dodgeball competition was held by the Year 7 Class Captains, and it went really well. Around 90 students attended at lunchtime to participate in 3 dodgeball games against one another. The students were separated into 4 different coloured teams, and the green team won, receiving 1icy-pole each. Overall, the main idea of running this tournament was to bring the Year 7s together and let them get to know each other, which was achieved. It was a lot of fun, and everyone seemed to enjoy it, meaning that we achieved our goal. Hopefully in future years we can run another dodgeball competition as it was a success.
