Principal's Message

As my time as Acting Principal at Kismet Park Primary School comes to a close today, I reflect on the memorable moments we've shared. It has been a privilege to work with such dedicated staff, enthusiastic students, and a supportive community. I’d like to celebrate some key highlights from this term, express my gratitude, and share a few upcoming events.

Cricket Finals

Our cricket teams put in an outstanding effort on Monday, 21st October. Although the boys just missed out on making it through to the next round, the girls will be competing this Friday for a spot in the Division finals. Best of luck, girls!

Curriculum Day – Berry Street Day 3 – Stamina and Engagement

On 25th October, our staff will engage in the third day of Berry Street training, which focuses on the concept of Stamina. This vital part of the program emphasises building both emotional and physical resilience in our students, helping them to maintain focus and persistence, even when faced with challenges. Through the development of stamina, we aim to foster students' ability to work through difficulties, regulate their emotions, and sustain effort over longer periods.

Engagement complements this by ensuring students are fully involved in their learning, finding meaning and connection in their classroom experiences. These two elements are essential not only for academic success but also for students' overall well-being. This not only supports their academic success but also their overall well-being. The strategies we’ve learned throughout the Berry Street model continue to enhance our capacity to nurture students who are not just successful learners, but also resilient individuals ready to tackle life's challenges.

Grade 6 Camp

This Monday to Wednesday, our Grade 6 students will be heading to The Summit Camp. This camp promises to be an exciting adventure filled with team-building activities, challenges, and fun memories as our senior students celebrate their final year at Kismet Park.

Northern Metro Regional Track & Field

Last Wednesday, Max Dremel placed 6th in the 800m, Charlie Dobson took 4th in high jump, and Beau Jorgensen placed 4th in shot put and 2nd in discus. Congratulations to Beau, who will advance to the State level for discus!

Offsite Evacuation Drill

On Thursday, 24th October, we conducted an offsite evacuation drill, and I’m proud to say that within seven minutes, all students and staff were safely gathered on the oval. Everyone's calm and efficient response demonstrated our school's strong commitment to safety.

Upcoming Events:

Colour Run – 25th November

Mark your calendars for our upcoming Colour Run, a day that promises plenty of fun, fitness, and school spirit! Don't forget, this event is also a key fundraiser for the school, so please continue to support this effort by encouraging fundraising.

End-of-Term Celebrations

As the term comes to a close, we look forward to more exciting events, including Grade 6 graduation activities and various year-end celebrations.

Thank You

Dear Families,

Thank you to all our families for warmly welcoming Sam into our vibrant school community.

It has been fantastic to receive updates from Sam about the achievements our students, staff and community have made throughout Term 3. I wish to express my sincere gratitude to Sam for his leadership and excellent work with our students, staff, and community.

I am looking forward to returning to school on Monday and working in partnership with all our families for a positive finish to the 2024 school year.

Warmest regards,

Thank You from Mr Carlton

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our students for your enthusiasm, curiosity, and joy, which have made each day a rewarding experience. To the staff, your dedication and hard work have been the foundation of our school’s success, and I have felt privileged to work alongside such a passionate team. A special thank you to my leadership team, including Mr Bigger, Mrs Lane, and Mrs Matthews, for your unwavering support and collaboration throughout this term.

To our Assistant Principal, Mrs Beckenham, your steadfast leadership, guidance, and partnership have been invaluable. I deeply appreciate your insight and contributions to making Kismet Park such a nurturing environment for both staff and students. Brooke, our Business Manager, deserves a special mention as well for her incredible work behind the scenes, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Your expertise and hard work have been instrumental in keeping things on track.

To Kathy, thank you for your leadership and the trust you placed in me during your absence. I know the school community looks forward to welcoming you back.

Finally, to our parents and guardians, thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your children’s education. It has been an honour to work with such a caring and involved community. I wish you all the very best for the rest of the term and beyond. It has been a privilege to serve as Acting Principal, and I leave with fond memories and great pride in everything we have achieved together.

Warm regards,

Sam Carlton
