WELLBEING - INTERVENTIONS AND PROGRAMS

To support student mental health and wellbeing, we have a range of interventions and programs across Secondary Years. Some of these have occurred and others are upcoming. Please see below for a snapshot of these interventions and programs:

  • Batyr@School: Year 10 and Year 11 students have had facilitators from Batyr present to them in Term 3 and 4 focusing on empowering our students with the confidence and skills to support themselves and each other to work through challenging times. They share lived experiences of mental illness health and how individuals have worked through this and overcome the challenges they've faced.
  • Reach Workshops: Year 9 and 10 students will be participating in workshops targeting peer dynamics, unpacking gender stereotypes and discussing the impact these can have on the relationships in their lives.
  • Brainstorm Productions: Years 6-8 students will be viewing a performance from Brainstorm Productions called 'Sticks and Stones'. The performance uses engaging live theatre to motivate students and foster connections, stimulating discussion and learning around bullying, cyber safety, and wellbeing.
  • Art Therapy: A group of Years 6-9 students will begin participating Art Therapy sessions each week for term 4.
  • Safe Space: Led by our College Wellbeing team, Safe Space is for students identifying as LGBTQIA+ to get to know each other, talk about what's going on for them, and play fun games. This runs every Thursday at Lunchtime. Friends and allies are most welcome!
  • Wellness Wednesday's: Also led by our College Wellbeing team, Wellness Wednesday's focuses on promoting positive mental health and wellbeing through offering students the chance to be physically active (e.g. yoga, dancing), practicing mindfulness and art-based activities.
