Head of Secondary Years' Report
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of Hazel Glen College,
Welcome back to Term 3!
This week has been bittersweet with some sad farewells and exciting new beginnings. We have welcomed back College Principal, Mr Stockwell and said farewell to our Acting College Principal, Mr Ballie. We are very grateful to Mr Baillie for his 8 years of dedicated service to HGC and while we will miss him, we congratulate him and wish him well in his new role as Principal of Epping Secondary College.
We celebrated our class of 2024, in a whole college assembly on Tuesday. This was a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, acknowledge our Year 12 students and wish them well for their future endeavours.
Our Year 12 students had their final day of classes today and will enjoy their celebration day on Tuesday 22nd October. VCE exams will commence on the 29th October and teachers will be available at the College to support students with their final preparations over the coming weeks. Their secondary schooling has come to an end and their next chapter of life will be a time for new beginnings and new opportunities. From all of us at HGC, we wish our class of 2024 well in this next phase of their journey. We look forward to seeing you all at Year 12 Graduation Presentation Ceremony on the 20th of November.
Friday 25th October, is World Teachers’ Day. We invite you to join us in celebrating our wonderful teachers for their skilled work in educating, inspiring and supporting our young people. This is your chance to join in celebrating our teachers at Hazel Glen College who work tirelessly to support their students. We welcome you and your children to join us as a College community to show appreciation by emailing via Compass or acknowledging your child’s teachers to recognise their work.
Term 4 is always a busy one and I want to remind our students that is a time to put your best foot forward and finish well. It is never too late to try your best!
Our students in Years 9-10 will have exams later this term. The time to start preparing is now. While exams don’t define us, they are an opportunity to learn and grow and prove to ourselves what we are capable of.
Please be reminded that Monday 4th November is a Curriculum Day (student free day) and Year 11 students have study days on the 6th and 7th of November in the lead up to their exams.
Please remember to check the "Important Dates" section of this newsletter to remind you of the many events that are occurring this term. We look forward to seeing many of you to the College Art and Technology evening on the 7th of November.
