Eastern Region Metropolitan Athletics Carnival

Congratulations to Beau D, Eden B and Alistair V who recently competed at the Eastern Region Metropolitan Athletics Carnival.  We are so proud of your achievements!  Our Region is made up of 9 Divisions and encompasses hundreds of schools from private schools and state schools. To make it to Region is an amazing achievement in itself.  A huge congratulations to Beau who placed 3rd overall in the 11 yo boys high jump. Here are their reflections;

"Region Athletics was held on Thursday 24th October at Tom Kelly athletics track and it was really fun. Everyone had a smile on their face and we had all of the equipment possible. Three POPS students made it and did a great job all coming in the top 10. One of my favourite parts of athletics was everyone congratulated each other no matter what place they came. Our school did a great job with athletics and everyone should be very happy with how they went in the 2024 athletics program. And a special thanks to all the teachers that planned our school athletics."    Beau D

"I was really nervous on the starting line for hurdles but I still managed to come 5th in the fastest heat. In high jump, I came 9th overall but I think I could have done better because I injured my back and shoulder whilst jumping. I had lots of fun during this experience. Next year, my goal is to make it to State Athletics."  Eden B

"My heart was beating at the speed of light before the race! I couldn't believe I had made it to Region for Hurdles. I won at my House Athletics months ago for hurdles and long jump, that took me to District and I won again. I tried my best at Region and I came fourth." Alistair V
