School Council Report

This week's School Council meeting had a focus on financial elements, although we covered a number of other topics too.

After discussing recent correspondence, we then reviewed and ratified the proposed 2025 Parent Payment letters.

We were pleased to see that the school has been able to slightly lower the stationery costs compared to last year, which is no small feat in itself.

Much of the communication regarding these payments is templated, in part to give consistency and clarity to this important aspect of providing school services.

School Council is also conscious of making it clear to families the importance of voluntary contributions in allowing us to provide and maintain a range of facilities and programs that many other schools are unable to offer. We also discussed how we might give our school community insights into what the past (and future) funds have been (or are targeted to be) spent on.

We then moved on to walking through the draft 2025 School Budget together. A lot of effort goes into the preparation of the draft Budget, including reviewing and updating recent budget allocations and expenditures across a large range of items - and it is much appreciated!

The Facilities Subcommittee reported back about the recent Working Bee (the weather for our contingency date was so much better than the initial placeholder!).

Ideas for development of the (partially) cleared area adjacent to the Basketball Stadium were also shared, in addition to review and discussion of feedback received regarding space just outside some classrooms.

The Education Subcommittee continued their progressive review of Policies by updating our Complaints Policy.

They also looked at the recently draft POPS Matrix of Expected Behaviour, an exciting initiative which looks to give a framework that travels with each age cohort as they pass through the school.

Although the days are lengthening, we didn't manage to finish while it was still light. Maybe for our next meeting in early December! And please remember that you are welcome to attend.

Looking forward to a strong finish to the year for all of us.

Best Regards,

Kynan Yep

School Council President
