Welcome back to Term 4!
We hope you enjoyed a wonderful holiday break and had time to rest and refresh away from the routines of the school term. Term 4 is always an exciting and very busy time in our school year, with many special events and celebrations ahead. What a first week, it’s been. Loads of adventure!
CYC Year 3/4 Camp
Last Monday and Tuesday, our Year 3/4s headed off on their much-anticipated City Camp. The children and staff navigated the trains and the hustle and bustle of Melbourne with ease. Highlights included the Eureka SkyDeck, where they bravely stepped onto the clear viewing platform to take in views of Marvellous Melbourne. After a catered lunch, the group visited the MCG for an informative and entertaining tour. Sitting in the media room, exploring the players’ changerooms and soaking up the atmosphere of the prestigious Members’ Long Room made for a truly surreal experience. Our guides shared fascinating insights into the history and evolution of the game.
Day two was action-packed, featuring Ten Pin Bowling and Monopoly Dreams, with plenty of laughter and excitement along the way. Of course, no camp would be complete without the usual fun and mischief — late-night chats and early morning wake-ups included!
It was a truly memorable experience that will stay with the children for years to come. A huge thank you to JP for coordinating the camp, the Year 3/4 team (including Ellouise) for their organisation and to Ant, Grace, Rika, Gemma, and Maria for their support and participation.
Holy Rosary Day Celebrations
Last Friday, our school community came together to celebrate Holy Rosary Day, beginning with a whole school Mass. Fr Thang shared a beautiful message about Mary, our heavenly mother and her brave “yes” to becoming the mother of Jesus. He reminded us of Mary’s deep faith and courage which is an inspiration for us all.
After Mass, the celebrations continued with plenty of fun and laughter. The children enjoyed a mini-golf session run by Proactivity, set up on our school grounds, along with a range of art and craft activities that encouraged creativity and reflection.
A huge thank you to Sarah for planning such a memorable day, and to our staff and students for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and flexibility with all the timetable changes.
The celebration continued into the weekend, with our Parish gathering on Sunday for Mass and lunch afterwards.
Prep Excursion
The Preps had an amazing time on their very first excursion last Wednesday! They attended the Pevan and Sarah concert at the Clocktower Centre, and it was such a treat. After singing along to their songs all year, seeing them perform live was an unforgettable experience! Following the concert, they enjoyed a sunny picnic lunch at Queens Park. A big thank you to our wonderful parent helpers for joining us and making the day so special.
Hats
Hats are now required for all children at PE lessons and play times. Note that if children do not wear their hats, they will need to sit in the shade during these times.
Responsible Pet Ownership
As previously advised through Operoo, Children from Prep-Two will participate in a session this Tuesday where they will learn how to interact safely with dogs. They will meet Meg and her cavoodle, Bailey.
The program focuses on teaching students about dog safety:
- when dogs should be left alone
- things we should not do to dogs
- how can you tell if a dog is happy, frightened or angry
- a safe way to approach and greet a dog
- what to do if approached by an unknown or aggressive dog
The program also introduces and develops the following concepts:
- choosing an appropriate pet
- general welfare
- husbandry
- the importance of identification and registration
- confinement and housing
- exercise and training
Planning for 2026
Please advise the office if your P-Yr 5 child will not be continuing at HR next year. This helps us to organise class structures and staffing so your advance notice is much appreciated.
Parish Announcement
It is with much sadness that we share the news that Father Thang Vu will be leaving our parish at the end of this year. We thank him for his faithful service to our parish community and wish him luck in his next chapter as Parish Priest at Springvale and Dingley. Our new Parish Priest will be Father Andrew Jekot. He will also be the Coordinator of Retired Priests for the Archdiocese. We will introduce you to Fr Andrew via the newsletter, as the new year approaches.
We look forward to this final term, finishing the year with energy, joy, and a sense of achievement. So you can keep up with all our events this term please note the key dates in your calendar so you don’t miss out.
Have a wonderful week.
Maria
