Term Four/What's Coming Up/5-6 Timetables

Term Four

Welcome back to Term Four! The year has gone by so fast and for our Year Six students this is the last term of primary school. We have had a busy start to the term and have so much more to do!

We began our term with our Summer Sports events in which students in 5/6 were able to participate in different summer sports. It was great to see the teamwork, resilience and fun displayed throughout the day. Congratulations to our basketball and cricket teams for making it through to the next level.

We also had out Life Education sessions in which students engaged in three modules in their year level that built on students' strengths, empowering them with knowledge & skills to make safer and healthier choices.

Our Year Six students have begun getting ready for graduation later this term. They have started to select their ceremony songs, being placed in their speech and have begun brainstorming ideas for their speeches (as well as planning their outfits!). Year Six students have also begun their scrapbooking sessions in Friday 24th October. These sessions are always fun and engaging for all students to reminisce and share stories and memories with each other.

Our Year Five students have continued to engage in their buddy sessions on Fridays and enjoying doing different activities.

In the classroom, we have been doing some refreshing of learning in Maths included revising how to shop within a budget, create your own mini city, revising multiplication and division strategies as well as recalling the strategies to work out area and perimeter of regular and irregular shapes.

In Writing, we started the term writing holiday recounts and presenting them in different e.g. standard recount, in pictures, in a comic strip. We have moved onto recount writing for the Year Six students and Narrative writing for the Year Five students. Students in Year Six will continue to write recounts about each year of their primary school to go into their scrapbooks while the Year Five students will be working on a writing booklet which will have a different style of writing in it.

In Reading we started the term practicing different comprehension strategies. We have now begun Book Club in which students have been placed into a group of their peers and will work with that group 1-2 times a week to read and share thoughts about their novel.
