Communicating with the Year Two Team

When communicating with the Year Two team, please reach out via the below email addresses. Your child's class teacher is your first point of contact when requiring a discussion. You will usually see us outside the classrooms at the end of the day. This is the preferred time to catch us for a quick chat as we are focused on greeting the students before school.

Please also note that we have scheduled meetings at 3.45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Mathematics

In Term Four, we have been consolidating our understanding of place value and exploring partitioning, regrouping, rearranging, and renaming two- and three-digit numbers, including numbers with a zero. 

We have also been learning about fractions and how to represent them using a numerator and denominator. Students have explored halves, quarters, and eighths. Here is a link to a video about fractions: http://Let's learn Fractions!

Inquiry: 

         This term, our Inquiry unit has focused on Where We Live. The students have loved exploring their local community by using Google Maps. We have looked closely at Upwey and identified important landmarks such as Upwey South Primary School, the CFA, the main street, the train station, and where our are houses are located. The students have also enjoyed creating their own maps of the local area and discovering the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander names for places across Australia. We will also be learning about the seasons of the local Wurundjeri people and comparing these to the European seasons. To support our learning, we’re very excited to be going on an excursion to Puffing Billy as part of our Inquiry unit!
