Catholic Identity
Leader: Katie Rasmussen
On November 2, the Catholic Church celebrates All Souls Day, a day of prayer and reflection dedicated to remembering those who have died. It’s a moment for families and communities to pause, give thanks, and honour the people who have shaped their lives.
While this day comes from Catholic tradition, its message is one that reaches beyond religion — the importance of memory, gratitude, and love that continues long after someone has gone. Many people choose to mark the day by lighting candles, sharing stories, or visiting special places that remind them of loved ones.
In the Catholic faith, All Souls Day is also about hope. We believe in eternal life — that death is not an ending, but a change, and that our loved ones live on with God and remain part of our story in a new way.
Whether through quiet reflection, prayer, or a simple moment of remembrance, All Souls Day invites us to recognise the people who have helped shape us, and to take comfort in knowing their light continues to shine through us.

Members from St Vincent de Paul recently visited St Patrick’s to collect the generous donations from our Can Drive held last term. Our Catholic Identity Leaders proudly helped hand over the items and load them into the car — a simple but powerful act of service that reflects the heart of our Catholic mission.
This initiative is a wonderful example of the Catholic Social Teaching principle of “Preferential Option for the Poor and Vulnerable.” As a school community, we are called to stand in solidarity with those who are struggling and to respond with compassion and generosity. In a time when demand for support is high, every can, every item, and every act of kindness truly makes a difference.
Scripture reminds us in Matthew 25:35 — “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.” Through our Can Drive, we live out this message, showing that faith is not only what we believe, but also how we act towards others.
A sincere thank you to all our families who contributed so generously. Your support embodies the Gospel call to love our neighbour and helps ensure that hope continues to reach those most in need.
