ITALIAN
All classes have been reading Tomasina is always hungry. The junior classes have been focusing on recognising and matching the words in the text to the pictures in this book
The senior students have been focusing on reading the entire sentence in the book and being able to translate that into Italian.
All classes are making their own version of the Tomasina book. It is wonderful to see the progression of ideas come through each year level.
SPORT
This fortnight we've continued with our cricket unit during Sport.
The senior classes have really enjoyed implementing their bowling, batting and wicket-keeping skills in a fun game of 'Cricket Rounders'. This game was inspired by the Tee Ball that they enjoyed so much during Summer Sports and uses a stump and wicketkeeper at every base to really maximise our skills opportunities! The students have really enjoyed the fun rivalry during these games.
The junior classes have had a slightly different approach to the cricket unit with the focus being more on consolidating basic motor skills such as throwing and catching. We also continue to work on their sportsmanship and resilience skills with fun games like Farmer Sam.
ART
This term we have been exploring and developing our print making skills and techniques. The junior students have been using rubbing and transfer techniques including spraying foil with textas and water to create a colour print. The senior students have been finishing off their print making project which included transferring a portrait photo of themselves with oil pastel onto a water colour background they had painted. We were all super impressed with how our self portraits turned out. They are now on display in the foyer for everyone to enjoy.
