Student Wellbeing

I can’t believe it is Week 3 already!

Can you believe how quickly this year is flying by? We’re already in Week 3, of Term 4 and the excitement is building across the school! Christmas decorations are starting to appear in stores, our Year 6 students are busily preparing for their graduation, and next year’s Preps have begun visiting our school. There’s so much happening in wellbeing at the moment, and we’re thrilled to see our students engaging, growing and enjoying every moment along the way.

💛 BRAVE Program

Some of our Year 5/6 students enthusiastically self-nominated to participate in The Brave Program, which supports students in managing anxiety and worry while building resilience and positive coping strategies. The program has been going really well, sparking engaging discussions and helping students form new connections. The Brave Program has been a fantastic addition to the wellbeing initiatives we already offer, enriching the experiences and growth of our senior students.

World Teacher’s Day

Next week, as part of Staff Wellbeing Week, we will be celebrating World Teachers’ Day! This is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the incredible team of people who make St John’s such a special place. From our dedicated leaders and teachers to our amazing support staff, every member of our school community plays an important role in creating a positive, nurturing, and inspiring environment for our students. Their commitment, care, and creativity help our students thrive both academically and personally. Throughout the week, we’ll be taking time to show our appreciation, celebrate the many contributions of our staff, and recognise the passion and dedication that make St John’s a truly remarkable place to learn and grow.

The Resilience Project

At St John’s, we use GEM Chats to help students reflect on their feelings, celebrate their successes, and set positive goals for themselves. These simple, structured conversations encourage self-awareness, resilience, and personal growth, and the great news is they can be easily used at home too! GEM Chats provide a wonderful way for families to connect with children about their day, celebrate achievements, and support them in working through challenges in a positive, encouraging way.
