October - The Month of the Rosary

Did you know that October is a special month in the Catholic Church?

It's called the Month of the Rosary!

During this time, many families and schools take extra time to pray the Rosary—a beautiful prayer that helps us think about the life of Jesus and Mary.

The Rosary is made up of beads and prayers, and each part reminds us of important moments, like Jesus being born or rising from the dead. October was chosen because the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated on October 7th.

It’s a great time to learn how to pray the Rosary, or even just to say a Hail Mary with your  family.

So this month, let’s remember to take a quiet moment to pray, reflect, and feel close to God and Mary. 🌟

Our Years 3-6 students visited the church and prayed the Rosary together last week.

All Saints Day

All Saints Day is a significant feast day for Roman Catholic's all over the world, celebrated annually on the 1st November. It's a special day to honour all the saints who have gone to Heaven. This includes well know saints like St Patrick, as well as those men and women who led holy lives, but are less well known.

The tradition of celebrating All Saints Day started with the early Christian Church. Initially, it commemorated martyrs who sacfificed their lives for their faith. Over time, this observance changed to honour not just martyrs, but all the saints who lived exemplary Christian lives. By celebrating this day, the church acknowledges the vast community of saints and offers them as role models to us to follow.

All Saints Day is a day of joy and reflection, encouraging us to follow their example. This celebration calls us to live our lives guided by the gospel values of faith, hope and charity. It's a reminder that we to are individually called to be saints, aspiring to join the communion of saints in Heaven.

As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ, we are reminded that Advent is a journey of the heart - an invitation to slow down, reflect, and make space for God’s presence in our lives. This retreat pilgrimage to St Catherine Labouré, Gymea is an opportunity to renew our hope, embrace the joy of the Gospel, and ready our hearts for the coming of Jesus. The day will include a presentation by Rev Dr Gregory Morgan PP, who will share practical tips on how to have the best Advent ever, helping us make the most of this holy season.

God Bless,
