OKTOBERFEST 2025

On Tuesday, 28th October, Rangeview came alive with the sights, sounds, and spirit of our annual Oktoberfest celebration. The day began with a vibrant whole-school assembly in the hall, featuring outstanding performances from our junior and senior choirs, the Rock Band, our Foundation students, and a lively whole-school action song.

A special thank you to Elliot (6J) for his fantastic trumpet rendition of the Ententanz (Chicken Dance), and to Leah and Alice (6A) for their beautiful performance of a German song composed by Ludwig van Beethoven.

We also congratulate our talented group poetry performers — Maheli, Theodora, and Tiana — on their excellent recital, which earned them first place in the state final.

During the assembly, we were thrilled to announce the results of the AGTV Tongue-Twister (Zungenbrecher) Competition. Earlier this year, Rangeview made history as the largest crowd in Victoria to recite a German tongue-twister together! To recognise this wonderful achievement, our school received a framed certificate and a book voucher from Intext International Bookshop to purchase new German books for our German classroom.

At lunchtime, students enjoyed their pretzels and gingerbread hearts, ordered last term in preparation for the event — a true taste of Bavaria!

In the afternoon, students joined multi-age rotation activities, which included a German craft, pancake cooking, and traditional party games. The enthusiasm and teamwork on display were wonderful to see.

It was also fantastic to see so many students and staff dressed up in Bavarian costumes (Dirndlkleider and Lederhosen), the German flag colours (black, red, and gold), or the Bavarian blue and white. Congratulations to all our “Best Dressed” winners, who participated in the Oktoberfest parade and took home a special prize to end the day on a high note.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our amazing Parents & Friends Committee for organising the Oktoberfest food, and to our dedicated German Captains, Suhani and Maheli, for their contributions to the assembly and for regularly presenting the German Word/Phrase of the Week at our school assemblies.

Es war ein wunderbarer Tag! (It was a wonderful day!)
