Principal's Report

Flexible. Resilient. Positive. 2025

It has been a busy and productive fortnight at Rangeview. Our School Council has met, Level 1 and Level 2 have travelled to the Melbourne Museum, Level 4 have had a First Fleet & First Australians Incursion, Foundation have had a Plant Life-Cycle Incursion, students have competed at Division Volleyball, Regional Athletics, District Softball, Regional Basketball, Regional Volleyball, Regional Hooptime, and Division Cricket, our RAFT has run the annual Lego Masters Event, our teaching staff had a 6+1 Writing professional learning, our Level 2 students had their first sleepover at school, our teachers were spoiled on World Teachers Day,  and our whole school celebrated Oktoberfest!

Oktoberfest Celebration Day

On Tuesday 28th October our school celebrated our annual Oktoberfest Day! This whole school celebration began with a huge assembly where we had performances by the Junior and Senior Choir, the school Rock Band, the class 'Best Dressed' were acknowledged, we heard German poetry, and the whole school participated in a dance.

The students then had three rotations in vertical groups learning cooking, games, and craft activities. It is always so wonderful to see our senior school students working alongside our littlest learners and assisting them.

Families had the opportunity to purchase Pretzles and German Gingerbread Hearts for the day and the staff had a delicious morning tea of Beestings and Apple Strudel.

I would like to extend our thanks to Ulrike Lindner and the German Team for all of their work in ensuring this day came to life for our students. It is a huge undertaking and is always such a delight on the day.

Level 2 Sleepover

On Friday 24th October, our Level 2 students participated in a sleepover at school. It was wonderful to see the cohort of very excited students arrive in the early evening to set up beds and then hurry out to the grassphalt for sports games and activities. They then had a delicious dinner and a night walk. On their return to school the had milo and a biscuit and then watched a movie from their 'beds'.

A huge thank you to the parents who volunteered their time to assist with this event - Harpeet  Tamara, & Melissa. Thank you also to the incredible Level 2 team, Khay Le, Marita Horvath, Jen Bonte, and Carol Wilson for their work to organise and run this event for the students. There were some very tired faces on Saturday morning at pick up and they weren't the students!

It was wonderful to celebrate Teachers Day on Friday 31st October - today! Mr Sommers and the Wellbeing Team organised a thank you video from the students and a plant for each teacher - they are growing young minds. A huge thank you to Fiona Tomietto who rallied the parents and to all the families who provided such a wonderful morning tea spread! It was truly amazing.

It is such a privilege to work amongst such dedicated, talented and passionate educators and on behalf of the leadership team, I thank you for all that you do.

Pupil Free Day

We will be having a Pupil Free Day on Monday 3rd of November. Our Their Care program will be operating for any families that require care on this day.

Tuesday 4th is a Public Holiday for the Melbourne Cup.

Request for Caution

This week marks the anniversary of the tragic car accident at Auburn South Primary School. I attended a memorial service on Wednesday at Auburn South and the grief of that school community is still very palpable. Their extraordinary community has wrapped around the family who lost their son.

I ask that all families take care on our roads during drop off and pick up each day. Please do not drive across footpaths into driveways to turn around. Please do not u-turn next to school entrances. Please do not drop children on the far side of the road and allow then to cross away from crossings. Please follow directions provided on street signage. Please do not drive into the school main driveway and back out onto Churinga Ave.

With 700 students entering and leaving the school each day, we all need to work together to ensure safety for our community.

I wish you all a safe and restful long weekend.

Marika Ferguson

Principal
