Mastering the basics

Our Reconnect Team wishes to extend congratulations to the student body for their exceptional dedication in curbing our late arrival rate. Throughout Term 4 of 2023, we witnessed a remarkable decline in tardiness, marking our lowest late arrival figures since the overhaul of the Reconnect program in Term 3, 2022. Our late arrival percentage dropped to an average of 1.3%, down from the previous term's 1.8%.

Here's a summary of our results for this term:

And here's a summary of our progress throughout the past six terms:

This achievement was a result of a concerted team effort involving our Head Teachers, Connect teachers, and the incredible commitment of Mrs. Alfonsi, whose unwavering dedication deserves special recognition.

We would also like to thank the Senior Executive, particularly Mrs Lord, Ms Carter, and Mr Floriano, for their continued support in ensuring that Reconnect ran smoothly throughout the year.

Additionally, our strategy included personalised assistance for recurring latecomers. Through targeted interventions, these students, along with their parents, engaged in constructive meetings with their year group's Deputy Principal and Reconnect Coordinators. Together, they formulated and are actively implementing plans addressing the core issues contributing to their persistent lateness in an equitable manner.

Looking ahead, we looking forward supporting the Cecil Family in reaching greater heights next year to maximise their opportunities by mastering the basic skill of coming to school on time. We are committed to nurturing a culture of punctuality, which is one of the pillars of academic excellence at Cecil, throughout the upcoming year and beyond.
