New beginnings
New Principal appointed for 2024
Mr Andrew King has been appointed to the Principal role, starting in 2024. Mr King has been relieving as Principal at Picnic Point High School and will bring with him a wealth of experience and knowledge. He has taken the opportunity of visiting the school and is looking forward to working with the students, staff and community.
I am looking forward to returning to the Deputy Principal role and continuing to work with Year 10 and the Support Unit in 2024.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Ms Carter and Mr Carrozza for relieving as Deputy Principal in Semester Two.
Exciting new and improved spaces for 2024
Work on the school’s fantastic new and improved spaces will continue throughout the school holidays. It is anticipated that that the new gym facilities and expanded canteen will be completed prior to the start of Term 3. A temporary canteen is in place and continuing to provide great service and food options for students.
Foundation work for the new 4-storey building on Frederick Road is underway. As part of the building process, a time lapse camera will capture an image of the work every 15 minutes so we can track the progress and changes as the building starts to rise up from the foundations.
The image above provides an indication of what this new building will look like.
Staggered finishing times
For Terms 1 and 2 2024, students in Year 7, 8 and 9 will continue to finish every day except Tuesday at 2:50pm (5 minutes earlier). Year 9 finish at 2:10pm each Tuesday and Years 7 and 8 finish at 2:30pm each Tuesday.
The staggered finishing times allows for a steady flow of students leaving the school in the afternoon.
Years 10, 11 and 12 will finish every day at 2:55pm, except on Tuesday when Year 11 and 12 finish at 11:40am and Year 10 finish at 2:10pm.
Students in the Support Unit are not affected by the staggered finishing times and have not had their existing finishing times changed.
Congratulations to Year 12
Congratulations to Year 12 students as HSC and ATAR results are made available on Thursday 14 December. Thank you to all the teachers and the parents of these students for the support you have provided. Every year, students at Cecil Hills High School achieve outstanding results. On behalf of the school community, we wish all students every success in their post-school endeavours.
Thank you
Thank you to students and the school community for continuing to work with the staff throughout 2023 to ensure Cecil Hills High School is able to provide academic and wellbeing support to all students. This partnership between the school and community is what makes the school strong and able to ensure each student is known, valued and cared for.
Merry Christmas to all who are celebrating. We look forward to continuing the good work in 2024.
