Working Bee Week 2024

We want to send a big thank you to the many members of our community who have volunteered time this week to help with end-of-year tasks at school such as building shelves, clearing out storerooms, and preparing displays and classrooms for 2024. These tasks are often ones that teachers and other staff spend lunch breaks, evenings, weekends, and holidays doing, so we are incredibly grateful for your time and generosity of spirit. Thank you to our Business Manager Melissa O'Rorke for getting our first ever 'Volunteer Working Bee Week' off the ground!

Holiday works

Over the holidays we have some maintenance works happening in the school. Many regular tasks such as tree audits, painting and cleaning occur over the Summer Break, as well as other bigger tasks such as our toilet refurbishment and oval drainage works. Please spread the word in the local community that the school grounds may be busy with trucks and other equipment so please be careful. We love knowing that our grounds are enjoyed by families over the holidays but please do so safely.

Kalinda Giving Tree

This year we are collecting new and unused toys, games and books under the Kalinda Giving Tree. Our donations will be collected by the wonderful people at Uniting Homelessness and Support Services who will ensure they get to families who need and deserve some joy at Christmas. Please leave any donations unwrapped.

We are also collecting Christmas Stockings (the lolly and/or chocolate type) for parent Melynda Daley who is once again arranging a wonderful celebration for vulnerable members of the Maroondah community. We have a box in the foyer for your donations so please consider popping one in the trolly when you are at the shops.

Thank you from me

Once again the school year has flown and we have so much to be proud of. I want to send my thanks to parents and families who support the work we do in so many different ways. Whether it is the support you give your child in their learning or a kind word of encouragement to Kalinda staff, all the moments do not go unnoticed. I encourage you to celebrate this wonderful year with your child and spend time talking about 2024 with optimism and hope. As parents of Kalinda you do an amazing job advocating for your child and cheering them on, I am grateful we are part of the same team.

Wishing you and your family a wonderfully restful and rewarding break.

Take care Kalinda, you matter to me.
