Deputy Principal Teaching and Learning Report

Year 9 City Experience

Thanks to Mr Chris Brown and the team for their work preparing and running the activities for the Year 9 City Experience. It was an invaluable learning experience for the students.

Fast Start

From Monday 27 November to Wednesday 6 December, 2024 VCE students will undertake a Fast Start program. This means current Year 10 and 11 students will attend two to three Fast Start lessons for each subject over the course of the eight days. The purpose of the lessons is to introduce students to the requirements of each subject and to set homework for the holiday break. Attendance at these lessons is compulsory. Students will be expected to be at school for the whole day.

Awards Assemblies

During the final two student days for 2023, we will be holding the Awards Assemblies to recognise student effort and achievement.  The main academic awards to be presented on the day are:

  • Application & Diligence Awards: Application and Diligence Awards are given to students in Year 7 to 11 in acknowledgement of their overall effort. The award is given to students who achieve nominations in at least 50% of their classes across their year of study.
  • Academic Excellence Awards: The Academic Excellence in Learning Award is given to the top ten students in Years 7 to 11 and acknowledges students who are achieving overall grades of an excellent standard.
  • D’Astoli Trophy: Named in honour of Nazareth College’s founding principal, the D’Astoli Trophy is awarded to one student in each of Years 7 to 11 and acknowledges the top-ranked academic student in each of Years 7 to 11.

End of Year Reports

End of Semester reports will be available on SIMON and on PAM on Tuesday 5 December at 4.00 pm. I congratulate all students for their hard work and perseverance this year!
