Language features: Things that support meaning in language such as punctuation, words used, and descriptive language).
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Ask your child to choose a text (this can be their dot book, a text of their choice or the example text below) and ask them to identify the following:
Who is the narrator?
What perspective does the narrator have?
Why do you think the narrator has this perspective? (What language features does the narrator use?)
Example text:
“Oooooh!!!” I groaned, screwing up my face. I had to clean up my room and it was an absolute disaster zone. I really couldn’t be bothered cleaning right now. “Do I have to?”. I held my stomach and looked at my mum sadly. “Please don’t pretend to be sick Sarah.” Mum said smirking, and I couldn’t help but laugh.
