Miss Kim Taggart

Yaama,

Last week I was fortunate enough to participate in the Armidale Diocese Aboriginal Education Retreat. The Retreat was held in Tamworth over two days. The first day consisted of an on-country experience. This took us to Boundary Rock and the Botanic Gardens where Uncle Nev Sampson spoke to us about the history and importance that Boundary Rock has on our history and our culture. The afternoon was spent yarning with the other Aboriginal Educator women while learning to weave.

The second day was held at the Tamworth Youthie. We were fortunate enough to have Jodie Herden, a local Aboriginal artist, run an Aboriginal art therapy workshop. The group constructed an art piece that will be on display next year at the NSW Catholic Schools Aboriginal Education Conference that will he held here in Tamworth.

As we are at the end of another year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the school community for a wonderful year. Workbooks will be sent home this week. I would also like to wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas! See you all next year!
