Student Attitudes to School Survey

Over the past fortnight, students in Years 4–6 have participated in the Department of Education's annual Attitudes to School Survey. The anonymous survey provides students with an opportunity to share their thoughts about school, including what we do well and where we can improve. The survey helps schools understand student perspectives and informs future planning to support learning and wellbeing.

At Croydon Hills Primary School, we take student voice seriously. Once the results are available, staff will analyse the data and work with student focus groups to explore improvement opportunities. In previous years, student feedback has helped shape initiatives including straight grades across the school, strengthening our transition programs, beautifying learning spaces, and enhancing the sense of belonging for Year 5 students as they move into the Senior School.

We thank our students for thoughtfully sharing their feedback and helping us continue to improve our school. I look forward to sharing our school's data, and its comparison to State and Similar School Averages when it is available in Term Three.

After progressing through a rigorous series of School Sport Victoria (SSV) Team Vic Netball trials, four of our senior boys have been selected to represent Victoria at the National Championships in Darwin later this year. This is an outstanding achievement and a testament to their talent, dedication, perseverance and commitment to the sport.

We are incredibly proud to congratulate Lucas N (6LD), Ben B (6KF), Jaxon R (6RT) and Josh M (5JK) on this remarkable accomplishment. To be selected in a Team Vic program is a significant honour, with students competing against some of the most talented young athletes from across the state for a place in the team.

This opportunity will provide our students with invaluable experiences both on and off the court as they compete at the highest level of school sport, represent Victoria with pride, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

On behalf of the entire CHPS community, we wish Lucas, Ben, Jaxon and Josh every success as they prepare for the championships. We are excited to follow their journey and know they will be wonderful ambassadors for both our school and Victoria.

Congratulations boys – what an incredible achievement!

To help support the boys & their families on their journey to Darwin, we will be holding a fundraising dress-up day on the last day of term. We encourage all students to get involved and show their support. Keep an eye out for further details from our Junior School Council (JSC) team in the coming weeks.

Today is - International Day of Play

What is International Day of Play?

International Day of Play is a time to celebrate the power of play. It’s a time to raise awareness about how central play is to every child’s development and well-being. And it’s a time when we can come together to make sure that every child is able to fulfil their right to play.

What is the theme for International Day of Play 2026?

The theme for this year’s International Day of Play is “Protect play, protect childhood”. The theme is a reminder for all of us – governments, businesses, schools and families – that happy and healthy childhoods are built on play.

Why is play so important?

Play builds creativity, resilience, and social skills, laying the groundwork for lifelong learning and well-being. In too many communities, children's access to free, unstructured play is shrinking as public spaces become unsafe, inaccessible, or unhealthy – particularly in dense urban settings and humanitarian contexts. Without safe spaces, even the most engaged caregivers struggle to support children’s right to play.

When is the International Day of Play?

International Day of Play takes place each year on 11 June.

How can I get involved?

You'll be able to take part wherever you are – whether it’s trying out new play ideas with your children or helping raise awareness with your friends, families and networks about the power of play.

And remember, there's no need to wait until 11 June – every day is an opportunity for playful moments!
