We have had some very inspiring leaves added to the display – thank you to everyone who contributed a ‘leaf’!
From Rose Harmon (8E) – ‘I recently read “War Horse” (by Michael Morpungo) which was actually really sad, but it was a book that also gave me a lot of hope and inspired me to always do my best in life! It was really beautiful!’
From Izzy Dejanovic (9R) – ‘“Solitaire” (by Alice Oseman) – it made me think about how life isn’t always dull and it can have many amazing things in store. It also made me want to put myself out in the world so that I could experience things and I feel as though this book has made me more confident.’
From Ben Greenwood (11V) – ‘“Dark Rise” (by C.S. Pacat) inspired me to be creative and write about my own ideas. The story conferred interesting ideas which gave birth to ideas of my own.’
From Isla Anderson (12M) – ‘“No Enemies” (by Charles Mackay) – this poem was particularly inspirational to me as someone who is predominately softspoken. What it prompts in me is a desire to be bold and be true to myself, to be integral in my beliefs and accepting of my own voice; not letting my fear of pleasing others compromise who I am. It is a short yet eternally emboldening poem that I remember daily.’
A number of BHS staff also contributed to the Book Week display and were also given a prize draw. Angela Smith from the Inclusion Hub won a box of Favourites chocolates.
The Term 3 Regular Readers’ Raffle was held this Wednesday – there were 27 students with entries to the raffle. 1st prize ($12-worth of caf vouchers) was won by Jayden Lovato of 11P, 2nd prize ($6-worth of caf vouchers) was won by Parneet Kaur (7R), and 3rd prize (a $3 caf voucher), was won by Daisy Vine (10M).
