Mixed Tee Ball Regional Finals

Last Monday, the school mixed TBall team competed in the Regional Finals. On the day we played three matches to see who would play off in the finals. Our first match was a tough won and although we tried our best, we didn’t end up winning the match. Our second game saw us play really well as a team and we had a fantastic win. There was a bit of pressure for us to win the last match to make it through to the semi finals. Unfortunately, it was not to be our day and we didn’t win the last match.

This meant that we finished the day in 5th place at The Regional Finals- a magnificent effort if we do say so ourselves. We feel that since our very first match at the start of Winter Sport, we have improved not only our skills at TBall, but our teamwork as well. When we played in the finals, everyone was encouraging every person to do their best.

We would like to say a massive thank you to Aarush and Arnav’s dads for not only driving us to the matches, but for their support and encouragement on the day.

Year 5 Market Day

For the past few weeks, the Year 5 students and teachers have been working together to plan a Market Day for VPS. Students have planned for items that they will make as a team, created budgets, refined their ideas and developed advertising campaigns to be displayed around the school. Each group had a $50 budget to purchase their goods. The excitement has been palpable as they have worked to decide their selling prices and have discovered if they will make a profit or a loss. As a year level, students have decided that all monies raised will be donated to Backpack Bed for Homeless Australia. Items range in price from 50 cents to $5. All students at VPS will have the opportunity to visit the market with their class and purchase from the wide range of products on Thursday 14th September.

Sport

A massive thank you needs to be given Clinton Walsh for his outstanding work on organising sport for our students. The weather certainly wreaked havoc for the Winter Sport and District Athletics planning and many hours have been spent coordinating all schools to find alternative dates. We really appreciate all the hard work he puts in to ensure that the students get to participate in these activities.

Book Week

Our yearly Book Week dress up parade was a success once again. Students did an amazing job with their costumes and of course so did all staff. This week we have taken part in a range of activities about Literacy; some artistic pieces have been created which look fabulous. Michael Wagner, our visiting author, was very engaging and he gave the students some fantastic tips on how to turn their ideas into stories.

We look forward to chatting with you next week at our Term 3 interviews. Please remember that interviews are for 10 minutes and it is important that we maintain our schedule to ensure that we run on time.
