Literacy

What a busy and exciting Literacy filled fortnight we have had! We have celebrated Book Week, had the renowned author Michael Wagner speak to our students, completed a range of exciting Book Week related activities in class, announced the winners of the 'Grow' Writing Competition and had students participating in the MS Readathon.

I'm aware that a number of Levels will have lots of information on these events, so please look at the Level newsletter pages for additional photos and information.

MS Readathon

Well done to all the students that have participated in the MS Readathon. We ended up having around 100 students participating and have had 465 books logged onto the website. Wow! I am excited to write that we have raised over $1000. A very impressive effort! If you would still like to donate, you can still do this up until the 22nd of September.

Michael Wagner Visit

Written by Jiya S 6JS (Library Captain)

On the 29th of August, we had the pleasure of meeting and listening to Michael Wagner! During the day, Michael ran three sessions. The first one was for Foundation to 2 students. In this session, Michael shared some hilarious stories, read 2 of his books and also taught some amazing life lessons. In the Grade 3, 4, 5 and 6 sessions, Michael taught us about how to capture our ideas and discussed how every single person is unique in their own way. At the end of each session, Michael answered lots of questions asked by students and signed his books.

Vermont Primary School had an amazing time listening to and getting to know Michael and we have thoroughly enjoyed all of the sessions he has given us.

If you'd like to purchase one of Michael's books, you can still do so by going to the website on the brochure below.

Book Week

Written by Olive N 6JS (Library Captain)

On the 21st of August, Vermont Primary School held its annual book parade where everybody dressed up as one of their favourite book characters to spark the children's creativity. All the students had lots of fun dressing up and enjoyed seeing the teacher's funny costumes in the book parade. During the parade, everyone walked around the stadium showing off their costumes.

We hope everyone had an amazing time and we can’t wait to see what everybody will dress up as next year.
