Intermediate Boys & Girls Basketball

On Thursday the 3rd of August, Horsham College took a team of Intermediate Boys and Girls down to the Ballarat Selkirk Stadium to compete in the Greater Western Region Competition.

Both teams had very strong competition, where they had to demonstrate sportsmanship behaviours, hard work, and a lot of fitness throughout their 3 matches.

The girls team had a very tough day with their first match being against Ballarat High, the girls were down  0-7 after the first Half, where the girls pulled together strength to come out with a 2 goal victory, the girls still battle hard during their last 2 matches but unfortunately were unable to come out with a victory, well done to Aleece B, Jaylen B, Lauren C, Ava F, Zarli K, Izabella M, Chloe R, Cara T, and Sarah M.

Thank you to Mr Dorward for coaching and to Brooklyn and Bec Mclntrye for scoring.

The Boys played some incredible Basketball, where they won both games in their Pool against Monivae College and Emmanuel College helping them qualify for the Grand Final. The Boys had a tough match up in the Grand Final against Ballarat High School, the match was thrilling to watch as the boys displayed excellent ball skills and good sportsmanship towards the other team. Great work Will D, Levi M, Zane M, Toby L, Ethan W, Drew H, Micah L, Mitchell M and Jack H.

The Intermediate Boys Team will now head down to Melbourne to compete in the state level competition on the Monday 13th of November. Thank you to Mr Bruce for coaching and to Jason for Scoring. Also, a very special thank you to Hugh Dougherty and Freddy Frew for umpiring all the intermediate matches and for picking up a few other games to umpire. Super effort to all the students that participated at the Greater Western Region Basketball Competition
