Grade 5 Happenings

AFL Excursion

On Friday, our Grade 5 students enjoyed an exciting excursion to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to watch the AFL match between Geelong and Melbourne. It was a fantastic evening, with students cheering enthusiastically and experiencing the incredible atmosphere of one of Australia's most iconic sporting venues. The game was a thrilling contest, with Geelong finishing as the winners! A big thank you to our wonderful staff and parent helpers for giving up their time to make the excursion possible and ensuring everyone had a safe and enjoyable day. By the time we arrived back at school, there were plenty of tired faces, but everyone agreed it had been a memorable experience.

Bug Blitz

Earlier in the week Grade 5 students also enjoyed an engaging Bug Blitz incursion, presented by the South Gippsland Landcare Network. Throughout the day, students explored the fascinating world of nature by getting up close to a variety of local spiders and insects, using specialist equipment to identify hundreds of different bugs. They also searched for native birds and learnt how to recognise many of their unique calls. The hands-on activities gave students a greater appreciation of local ecosystems and the important role that invertebrates and wildlife play in keeping our environment healthy. It was a fun, interactive day filled with discovery, and our students learnt so much while having a fantastic time. A big thank you to the South Gippsland Landcare Network for visiting our school and providing such an informative and memorable experience.

Swimming Reminder

Just a reminder, the Grade 5 swimming program begins this week. Don't forget to pack a small bag wtih bathers, towel and goggles etc. Some extra snacks in lunchboxes would also be a good idea as swimming requires more energy than usual.
