It is with much excitement that I welcome back our students and families to another year of learning at Good News. A special welcome to those who are joining us for the first time. I hope you have had a break where you enjoyed family time together and feel ready to get back to school life. Most students would have met their 2025 teacher, but if you are unsure who your child's teacher is, please call the Admin office and they will be able to help you out. Prep students will have their teacher confirmed by the end of the first week of school. All families will be invited to book a short, individual 'Meet the Teacher' session during the afternoon and evening of February 11 (more details to come). This is an opportunity to share with your child's teacher important information about their learning. Prep student meetings begin on the days before school starts and continue on the Wednesday rest days. If you have not yet booked a time, please remember to do this.

Our uniform at Good News Lutheran College and the way in which students wear it is an important part of showing pride in our community. Linked below are the latest updates on both what students wear and how they wear it. This includes information about acceptable jewellery and haircuts. Please take the time to carefully read these guidelines and share them with your children. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
I also advise you to clearly label uniform items, especially hats which often go missing! Each year we have many lunch boxes and drink bottles in Lost Property as they are unnamed. Please clearly label these as well so if lost, they can be returned to your child.
Gathering together for Chapel is an important part of life at GNLC. Parents are always welcome at these events which take place in St Phillips Lutheran Church or what the students refer to as The Chapel. Here are the days and times for this year:
Wednesday 8.50am Prep, Year 1 and Year 2
Thursday 8.50am Year 3 & 4
Friday 8.50am Year 5 & 6
Primary Years Assembly will be on Tuesday mornings in the College Gym. A roster for year-level involvement will be available in the next edition of the newsletter.
I look forward to seeing you at these special occasions.
For Year 1 - 6
This is an optional opportunity for families to book a 10-minute appointment to meet with your child’s teacher. It provides a time for parents to share with the teacher any information about their child and their learning for 2025. Note that students are not required to attend.
A booking link to make an appointment will be supplied soon.
Tuesday 11 February
From 3.30pm to 7.00pm
Meet in your child’s classroom
The evening will also provide continuous 20-minute rolling information sessions:
In 2025, the Primary Years at Good News Lutheran College is transitioning to Seesaw for ongoing assessment and reporting. We will no longer be using Schoolbox to track student progress. Seesaw offers families a dynamic and interactive way to stay connected with their child’s learning.
Through Seesaw, families can view work instantly on any device, providing a real-time window into their child's progress. You can like and comment on posts, and even create text or audio messages to celebrate your child’s achievements. Seesaw also provides valuable insights to help support learning at home.
Look out for an invitation to sign up for your child’s journal in the coming weeks. By joining, you’ll be able to engage with their learning journey and track their development.
