OMGoodness! 2024 is nearly over! It's been a fabulous year working at Horsham College’s Claude Brand Library. I’ve met so many wonderful staff and students, and I truly appreciate the warm welcome from everyone.
We are having a busy week this week in the HC CB Library!
The transition of Grade 6 students into Year 7 is always a significant milestone, and it's great to hear that they're already starting to engage with the library space.
Activities Week is in full swing for current students with board games being won and lost, movies and chill-out time reading providing a relaxing and fun way to end the year.
Claude Brand Book Club will be running again in 2025. If you'd like to be a part of the CBBC next year, be sure to pop by and see me in February.
A quick reminder to return any library books that you may have forgotten about – 30 books are still AWOL! You have until 18th December to drop them off and clear your record, ready for a fresh start next year.
Holiday Reading Tips: Keep reading over the holidays! Reading improves your spelling, grammar, imagination, essay writing, and storytelling skills – all just by reading books!
ePlatform Access: Whether you're heading off on holidays or just relaxing at home, ePlatform is available to you. It’s available on both iOS and Android devices. Some HC English texts are available in eBook or eAudiobook formats, but if you prefer reading for fun, there’s a massive collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks available for free, anytime and anywhere – 24/7! Just log in using your school credentials. ePlatform is designed for all secondary students, no matter their reading ability. Give it a go!
Happy reading and see you all in the new year!
Missing the HC Library? Here’s What You Can Do Until 2025!
If you’re missing the library so much and don’t know how you’re going to cope until we reopen in 2025, don’t worry – there’s a solution!
Check out Wimmera Libraries Horsham Branch. You can join for free if you’re not already a member. Plus, they have a range of fun school holiday activities to keep you busy and entertained.
It's a great way to keep the reading spirit alive and stay connected with the library world until we’re back in action next year!
