It’s never too early to start thinking about next year!
To get a headstart on 2025, here are some things to think about (from Art of Smart) as you, students in Year 11 and 12, begin the final stages of your secondary schooling:
It moves quick! - The things you do (or don’t do) will dictate how challenging the year will be. Take the time to work out study techniques and routines now so that you know them next year.
Success doesn’t just happen, so make sure you have a plan to get where you want to be. Set up a study space, keep track of your work, know what is coming up and use planners to manage your time. Stay motivated by setting goals and reflecting on your progress. Click here for access to Horsham College’s Academic Support Google Drive and find the planners to visually track your progress.
Keep on top of your notes - Do this and your understanding of subject content will be stronger, and you’ll reduce stress when it comes to revising for assessments.
There are lots of different ways to write notes which we will cover next year, but check these guides out from Monash University and Goodnotes if you’d like some ideas now.
Balance is key - To stay healthy in mind and body, keep doing the hobbies and sports that you enjoy. To be your best, you’ll need to figure out how to fit in study, work and play. Don’t forget to sleep and eat well too; it’ll have a huge impact on your wellbeing.
Summer revision programs - Over the holidays, there are commercial companies that run subject lectures ahead of the school year. Check your DM’s for more information, but make sure you take up the one offered by ATAR Notes which is free and online!
Have a joyful and restful holiday, and Bonita and I will see you all next year!
