Religious Education Leader

Dear St Mary’s community,

Thank you for all your beautiful Christmas letters and cards for Timor Leste, St Vincent De Paul and the Baptism families. They are carefully written and wonderfully festive to brighten the Christmas Season for those who would love some joy this Christmas.

Congratulations to our Choir who sang at the St Mary’s College Christmas Carols. You did a brilliant job singing at the event to support the band.

Our Christmas Carols for St Mary’s Primary school will be held under the sails at St Mary’s College this Tuesday 10th December at 5pm. We look forward to seeing you there!

As this is our last newsletter for the year I want to take this opportunity to wish you a blessed and safe Christmas holidays. I feel very blessed this year to have begun the journey of starting a family with my husband and will be taking a break from teaching in 2025. Your prayers and support for us have been appreciated greatly, thank you!

I wish Mr James Millane all the best as he takes on the Faith and RE role in addition to his other roles as Assistant Principal. May God bless you all, and I look forward to returning to school after my leave.

Prayer for Christmas

Here are some options for Christmas dinner prayers which you may wish to pray with your families at the table this Christmas - these are sourced from HALLOW the Catholic App which is a podcasting app featuring celebrities reading Scripture and prayers such as Bear Grills, Bishop Robert Barron, Jonathan Roumie, Mark Wahlberg, Lauren Daigle, Gwen Stefani and more:

“Dear God, we thank you for everyone gathered here this evening, for the food we will enjoy, and for the love we all share. We give thanks this day for the birth of our Savior. In His name we pray. Amen.”

“Heavenly Father, bless this food and bless this meal. Since Jesus came into our world and delivered us salvation, we rejoice in the promise of salvation and pray that our fellowship today brings us deeper into communion with You. We ask this as we ask all things, through Christ, our Lord. Amen.”

“God, recently, our days have been joy-filled yet busy. Occasionally, we get distracted from the true meaning of Christmas. As we gather here tonight, in this quiet moment, we feel your loving embrace. We are filled with gratitude for this meal, this fellowship, and all the blessings you give us. Amen.”
