Faith and Formation

We have had a huge year with Faith and Formation around the school.

As a school we have supported

  • Vinnie’s with the Winter Sleep Out, Christmas Hampers, and making sandwiches for the Vinnie’s Van and introduced senior students with teachers running the Vinnie’s Van throughout the year.
  • We have helped Jesuit Social Services fill their shelves at the Ignite Food Store in Emerton.
  • We have had year 10 students regularly visit Mackillop House in  Bella Vista, interacting with the elderly patients.
  • We have had year 5 and 6 students and some year 9 and 10 students participate in Lifted Live events throughout the year.
  • This year students K-10 participated and contributed to Catholic Mission through donations online.
  • Years 9-12 participated in the Kairos program, where we write letters of Hope for prisoners participatiung in the program.

2024 has been a year where we as a school have been the Hands and Feet of Jesus here on earth.

The Faith and Formation team would like to extend a big thank you to the school community for your support and generosity in 2024.

We hope 2025 will bring more opportunities for our community and that we can all embody the teachings of Jesus in not only word but action also.

For Christmas we would like to wish all of our community a safe, happy and Holy Christmas

May you be filled with the wonder of Mary,

the obedience of Joseph,

 the joy of the angels,

the eagerness of the shepherds,

the determination of the magi,

and the peace of the Christ child.

Social Outreach:

Dear Families,

Thank you for a wonderful year. Your generosity and support is always extremely valued. What a community we have!

Vinnies Christmas Hampers

We thank you for your donations towards the Vinnies Christmas Hampers. They have now been packed and will be picked up on Friday morning, so we will not be accepting any donations after this.

Catholic HealthCare

Our year 10 students have greatly appreciated their visits to the Catholic HealthCare aged home care facility this year. They engage in conversation, assist with craft activities and join games. During our last visit, we had the privilege to hand out Christmas cookies made by the college.

Vinnies Sandwiches

As part of our outreach initiatives, Students across years 7-12 join together during their break to make and donate sandwiches that go out on the nightly Vinnies Van service. It is always heart-warming to see the generosity of time and efforts from our students here at St. Luke’s!

Liturgy:

Dear Families,

Over the past few weeks, students across the college have been celebrating a year of learning and faith formation at St Luke’s through their stage liturgies. From Early Stage 1 to Stage 6, students have reflected on their understanding of God and their neighbour, exploring how they can express love for both through their actions and words.

Thank you to all the families who have accompanied their children on this journey. We look forward to seeing you next year as we continue this shared journey of faith through life’s experiences.

Wishing you a blessed Christmas and abundant blessings upon you and your families.

Warm regards,

Isabel Ruiz Davila

YCS:

We are delighted to share that the St Luke's YCS Leadership model has been highly praised by the Diocesan YCS and YCW teams, earning recognition as one of the best models at the national level. A heartfelt thanks to the YCS team for being a source of inspiration to others.

Recently, the 2025 St Luke's YCS office bearers were elected through a democratic process. Congratulations to Sudeep Velagapudi from Year 10, who has been elected as the YCS President, and Lara Derjani, who will serve as the YCS Vice President for 2025. The outgoing President, Shama Shanemougam from Year 11, has graciously accepted the role of Mentor and presented certificates to the outgoing and newly elected members of the Leadership Team.

In collaboration with Diocesan leader Ms. Caoimhe Gorrell and St Luke's YCS Facilitator Mrs. Tessie James, senior student leaders are currently finalising leadership portfolios including Marketing, Communication, Podcast, and Treasury.

We eagerly look forward to witnessing their embodiment of the YCS motto, 'See-Judge-Act,' as they continue to inspire and lead in 2025.
