Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have almost made it to the end of the term.  Today is the last day of formal classes for all year levels and next week we will run an alternate program schedule for students who will be on site. More details can be found in the upcoming events page.

Last Thursday 5th December we had our Instrumental Music program showcase their amazing talents with their Summer Gala concert and what a night it was!  Audiences were entertained by all the school ensembles with the final performance of Ode to Joy performed by the entire music cohort. Amazing!

On Wednesday 11th December, I had the privilege of attending the Girls at the Centre (G@TC) Celebration. The evening was a celebration of the achievements of the students who are part of the G@TC. Students, staff and families came together to celebrate the commitment and dedication of the students and to recognise their journey and achievements.

Congratulations to all the students who received awards.  I would also like to take the opportunity to thank G@TC staff, Simone, Chloe and Maddi.  Your commitment and dedication to our students is incredible.  Thank you.

Yesterday evening, Thursday 12th December, we had our annual Presentation Evening which is an opportunity to reflect on 2024 and what an amazing year it has been.  Please head to the Presentation Evening page of this newsletter for more details.

As the year draws to a close, we reflect on some of our incredible achievements:

  • 200 staff have supported the wellbeing and learning of 1200 students.
  • Staff have focused on four key elements of a successful school – positive staff-student relationships, establishing a positive climate for learning, promoting student leadership and student voice – and caring for and valuing our staff.
  • We have committed to ensuring that student excursions and incursions were a priority – including in the areas of interschool sports, music and drama trips, Melbourne experiences, camps and outdoor education activities.
  • Our College examination centre has had a makeover so that BSC students have the best possible conditions to do their best in important senior school exams.
  • We have invested significant time and resources to develop an Inclusion Hub in the centre of our College. This Hub will be ready to go from day one in 2025 and has a team of wellbeing and teaching specialists who will ensure that all students have the opportunity to make the most of their secondary school experience.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our College community.  Our community is made up of students, staff, parents, carers, extended families, businesses and community organisations to name a few.  Without the support of this community, our achievements for 2024 would not be possible.  The support of community makes it possible to provide an environment where students feel cared for, safe and are given the opportunity to be the best they can be.  Thank you!

We wish you all a very happy holiday and may you have the chance to enjoy and relax and do the things that you enjoy the most.

We look forward to 2025 and achieving great things!

Sincerely,
