Principal's Message
Dear parents, students and families,
Welcome back. I trust your summer has been a good one. I have heard from many of our students about their wonderful family times over the break. Our Year 1-6 students returned yesterday and we look forward to our Foundation students joining us next Monday in their classes.
This year is a Jubilee Year for our universal Church. In the Catholic Church, a Jubilee or Holy Year is a special year of forgiveness and reconciliation, in which people are invited to come back into right relationship with God, with one another, and with all of creation. A Jubilee Year is celebrated by the Church every 25 years. This has been the case since 1470, when Pope Paul II changed it from every 50 years. The theme is Pilgrims of Hope. Pope Francis has invited Catholics to renew our hope and discover a vision that can "restore access to the fruits of the earth to everyone". We are also invited to rediscover a spirituality of God's creation in which we understand ourselves as "pilgrims on the earth" rather than masters of the world.
At St Anne's we look forward to travelling this journey of hope together.
It has been so good to see so many of our parents and grandparents each morning so far. Can I request that if you have younger siblings with you at drop off and pick up that you please keep them under close supervision. It is important that these young children are keeping themselves and others safe and happy.
It is a requirement that all students have hats on while outside during their breaks. Can all families ensure that their children have named hats at school. If they do not have a school hat by next Monday the students will be required to play in the undercover area outside the front deck which is a bit limiting for them.
Our focus this week and next week is all about settling our students into their new classes so I have no other key events to inform you of. Rest assured, there will be plenty happening from Week 3 onwards to stay aware of!
God Bless and have a great week.
