Fresh Food Fair Wrap

Congratulations Surfside together as a community we have raised a whopping:

This amazing fundraising effort is able to support our amazing Kitchen & Garden program. Everyone involved should be very proud of what we have achieved as a school community.

There are many parts that need to come together to support such an amazing event that not only celebrates what happens within our school but also provides an opportunity to bring our community together.

A massive thank you to Stacey O'Keefe who is our key Fresh Food Fair coordinator. We value her patience, organisation and sense of inclusivity to manage such a big event. Stacey does an amazing job and we are very grateful to have her as part of the Surfside team. Stacey has also been well supported by our kitchen and garden team of Fleur and Clancey who have all managed to use the kitchen and garden as the core of our event from home made and home grown food to wonderful actions of sustainability. Our administration team of Ebony, Vicki and Kerry are involved in so much work around communication, organisation and financial management and this work makes the evening run smoothly.

Our Fresh Food Fair committee have gone above and beyond at every opportunity to support all of the pre organisation, the sponsorship packages, prizes and key coordination roles on and after the day. We are thankful for our parent and carer assistance and welcome anyone who wants to assist with the 2024 event.

All of our Surfside staff (Teaching, Education Support, Terry, Damien and our cleaner Adam) are fully committed to our wonderful event and we are so thankful to them for giving up their time to assist before and on the evening. It is very obvious that there is so much support and planning that goes into each activity that we work towards engaging the kids and community.

It is such a rewarding experience to celebrate the work and skills of our students through stalls, activities and performances. Most of our event is student led and it is great to see them get so much out of the evening with their mates and this is evident within our photo gallery.

Most of all a massive thank you to our families, sponsors and supporters for their overwhelming financial and helping hands to support our school community. Our Kitchen, garden and the program is 100% funded by our fundraising efforts throughout the year and this is our major constributor. This is not an opportunity that all schools get to have and we are so grateful of the support to allow our students to have such a rich learning experience.

This was definitely our biggest and best Fresh Food Fair ever and we know that the students, staff and organisers are already looking forward to our 2024 event. For our year 6 students and families who this is their last Fresh Food Fair we want to thank you for your contributions over the years and remember that you are always welcome to reconnect with your primary community for future editions!!
