Spreading Kindness at Surfside
We want to thank the Surfside PS Kindness Club for not only celebrating World Kindness Day on Monday but ensuring students, classes and families could spread their message of kindness throughout the week. Students have participated in a range of class based or cross class activities. Kindness is something that we are passionate about at Surfside not only in the classroom but within our school and local community. Acts of kindness are simple actions or words that can have positive effects on other people or communities. We hope that you have been able to recognise words or acts of kindness throughout the week and that this is something that all of our students, staff and families looks at as beeing a part of their lifestyle.
Here is a lovely message from our Kindness Club.....
On Monday 13th of November, it was World Kindness Day and the Grade 4’s and Kindness Club participated in lots of kindness activities like writing kind chalk messages around the school, making a whole school kindness chain that includes acts of kindness that happen at our school and we handed out cards to students being caught being kind.
This week each class has been given a kindness pack as well. These packs included a kindness poster, 20 ways to be kind sheets and some paper strips. These strips were for each student in the class to record an act of kindness that someone has done to them or they have done to someone else. Each class will connect their strips to make a giant paper chain that will spell the word KINDNESS. We will display this around the school soon.
This week we have also learnt about the Kindness Factory and we learnt all about oxytocin a hormone that is released when you are kind, or someone is kind to you. Kindness is a feeling that grows and spreads the more you share it. If you are kind kindness will come back to you!
Kindness matters!
