Positive Behaviour For Learning (PBL)

Positive Acknowledgement

'Positive acknowledgement is the presentation of something pleasant or rewarding immediately following a behaviour. It makes the behaviour more likely to occue in the future, and is one of the most powerful tools for shaping or changing behaviour'. San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUCD) Positive Behavior Support Initiative (2011)

There are many ways that we give feedback on behaviour choices. One way we positively acknowledge students showing the SMASH expecations is marbles in a jar. When marbles are given the teacher names the expectation that the student follows and explains why they are receiving the marble. Classes work together to fill their marble jars and then choose a celebration. Here is a list of celebration ideas we can choose from. Feel free to use these ideas at home if you have a home marble jar! Or get it touch to share ideas you may have.
