Farewell Year 12

Memories were made for the Class of 2023 on their final day of school with a series of activities that celebrated the special milestone.

The special day commenced on the right note with a hot breakfast cooked by the College staff who rose at dawn to crack the eggs and sizzle the bacon for the final year students, a final act of selfless service to honour their journey at Trinity College Colac.

The Year 12 graduands were festive and excited as they descended on the Rice wing in the traditional final day dress-ups – nuns rubbed shoulders with princesses as they made up their brekky burgers and mingled with their friends in the College Canteen.

The group then spent their last few hours together as a cohort at the bowling alley in Colac before returning to the College for their final whole school assembly and Year 12 performances.

Finally, the poignant moment arrived and the Class of 2023 was left to ponder their special bond, joining in a circle and looking around at each other as they took in the enormity of the moment. Ms Angela McGlynn addressed her final Year 12 group as she steps away from being the year coordinator into a new role in 2024, saying she had to retire from the position because no other group could replace them. With quite a few tears and lots of hugs, the Class of 2023 left the hall, walking through the traditional student guard of honour that stretched to the carpark.

The celebration is a rite of passage for the young adults as they prepare for their final exams and ponder their future after 13 years of school. The College looks forward to welcoming them back for their Graduation ceremony on 16 November.
